McClintock Distilling Company

McClintock Distilling Company is an organic-first distillery based in the heart of Frederick, MD. Owner’s Tyler Hegamyer and Braeden Bumpers advocate for an innovative and planet-conscious approach to distilling that harkens back to their namesake, Frederick-born inventor McClintock Young.

When tasked with creating a new website for their brand, I knew they needed something as sophisticated and refined as their distilling process. It was also important to take into consideration the company’s origins in invention and innovation. This process began with brand research and refinement, which led to a selection of a new brand-specific color palette taken from their bottles. Paired with real scans of McClintock Young’s original sketches, this created a modern design system that still harkened back to the company’s roots in the 1800s.

I worked closely with our copywriter and the client throughout the whole process, sharing wireframes and page progress as development continued. The client expressed their satisfaction throughout the brand’s development, embracing the new colors, as well as refined and updated fonts and photography.

McClintock Distilling Company’s new website is live and viewable here.

McClintock Spirits Sales Sheets

Furthering development of McClintock’s brand, updates to sales materials were requested. Talking existing photography and bottle designs, I developed a design system that resembled traditional documents such that McClintock Young may have used when creating his original inventions. Additionally, a standardized design for McClintock’s numerous awards was created for their sales sheets.

McClintock Spirits Shelf Talkers

Shelf talkers were also developed to be displayed in liquor stores that carried McClintock’s spirits. The challenge was to develop an eye catching design that represented their brand at a very small size. Working closely with a copywriter, we developed unique headlines as well as outside-the-box shapes to turn heads.
